Abstract: Imaginary companions are conceptualized as phenomena of world + x construction and reconstruction, and parameters relevant to whether or not a person constructs a world with an imaginary someone are presented. Access to a range of cases of imaginary companions is provided using a paradigm case formulation, and empirical data about imaginary companions is reviewed.
