Dr. Peter Garcia Ossorio, 80, passed away on April 24 at home in Boulder. Professor emeritus, scientist, entrepreneur, practicing clinical psychologist, horticulturist – Dr. Ossorio was born in Los Angeles on May 4, 1926 and moved to Colorado in 1961. He taught psychology at the University of Colorado, Boulder for over 30 years, and did cutting edge research through his various businesses, including the Linguistic Research Institute, Ellery Systems, and Global Commerce Systems. He was renowned as a teacher and clinical supervisor and directed over 50 dissertations at the University. His publications are extensive, and he is widely recognized for creating the discipline of Descriptive Psychology, which offers more precise and carefully articulated ways of speaking and thinking about persons, their behavior, and their worlds. It has given professionals around the world improved intellectual leverage to achieve advances in the fields of artificial intelligence, astronomy, business, computer science, education, psychology, spirituality, and elsewhere. He was invited to 18 US and foreign universities to share his discoveries and inventions. Dr. Ossorio was preceded in death by his sister, Aida Milroy and his brothers Abel and Oscar Ossorio. He is survived by his sisters Carmen Hauswitzer and Alice Morgan of Los Angeles, his daughters Dr. Pilar Ossorio of Madison, WI and Cassandra Higley of Longmont, his sons Aram Ossorio of Loveland and Aladdin Ossorio of Arlington, MA, and his many grandchildren.
